A special Hui of Iwi leaders is being held on Thursday 22nd April 2010, at Tānenuiārangi headquarters in Palmerston North, to discuss a collective Iwi approach to the Manawatū River.

Mon 12 Apr 2010: "He Pānui" - Foreshore & Seabed “consultation” hui - 17th April

Kia hiwa rā! Kia hiwa rā!  E te Iwi!  he hui whakahirahira kei te haere mai e pa ana ki tō tātou nei moana, na reira whakarauika mai nei kia whakawhārikihia ōu kōrero, ōu whakaaro, mo te kaupapa nui whakaharahara nei.  A Foreshore & Seabed “consultation” hui will be held by the Crown at Raukawa Marae on Saturday 17th April. The day starts with a pōwhiri commencing at 9.30 am. This will be followed by manaakitanga then the hui proper will start at 10am -12pm. This hui will be followed by a public hui at 2pm in the memorial hall.  It's about "Having your Say".  Submissions for the review of the Foreshore and Seabed Act 2004 closes at 5pm Friday 30th April 2010 - which is very soon!

Tue 30 Mar 2010: The Resource Management (Simplifying and Streamlining) Amendment Bill 2009

The National – Act led Resource Management (Simplifying and Streamlining) Amendment Bill 2009 (the Bill) passed its second and third readings on the 8th September 2009.  The Bill had its first reading on 19th February 2009. Submissions opened on 20 February 2009 and closed 3 April 2009, by which time 840 submissions had been received. Of the 840 submissions, 339 were heard at Local Government and Environment Select Committee. The Bill was reported back to the House of Representatives on 18 August 2009 and passed into law now known as the Amendment Act (RMAA 2009) commenced on 1 October 2009.   The Act represents the single biggest review of the RMA since 1991.

Mon 22 Feb 2010: “Ko Ōroua te Awa”, Ōroua River: Update

Taiao Raukawa – Environmental Resource Unit drafted a submission opposing the Manawatū District Council consent application for the Feilding Sewage Treatment Plant to continue discharging human effluent and other waste-water for a further 19 years into the Ōroua River.

Final submissions were due on the 14th January 2010.
