Dennis Emery – is of Ngāti Kauwhata me Ngāti Maniapoto descent. Was born in Feilding, educated at St Joseph’s convent and Hato Paora College in Cheltenham. Father of four (4) daughters and is currently living in Palmerston North. Dennis had an earlier working background in the meat industry, and was a full-time union official at the time. Has been closely involved in community activities and affairs in Feilding, was Manager of the Feilding Resource Centre, worked as an Operations Manager for Ngāti-Apa-ki-Rangitīkei and later as CEO for Te Rūnanga o Raukawa Inc. Has maintained an interest in education, employment, social, sporting and health activities, and currently retains active directorships in medical insurance in Christchurch and in MidCentral District Health Board in Palmerston North. Has recently spent two years working in Wellington, providing cultural and Iwi advice to a major mental health provider in Aotearoa.
Has a passion for Iwi developmental affairs, is closely aligned to his Ngāti Kauwhata Marae, pursues economic development and Iwi environmental healthcare, skilled in project management and more lately in tribal treaty claims activities.
Commenced work with Te Taiao Raukawa Environmental Trust in September 2009.
